My Story

I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It’s easy. Just click “Edit Text” or double click me to add your own content and make changes to the font. Feel free to drag and drop me anywhere you like on your page. I’m a great place for you to tell a story and let your users know a little more about you.

This is a great space to write long text about your company and your services. You can use this space to go into a little more detail about your company. Talk about your team and what services you provide. Tell your visitors the story of how you came up with the idea for your business and what makes you different from your competitors. Make your company stand out and show your visitors who you are.

My Story
ABOUT ME
CAROL ANNE SHAW BIO PICTURE.png

It took me a while to get here, mostly because I figured no one would get my dated Stevie Nicks references or appreciate my obsession with muscle cars. But a website was needed, so here I am.

I am the author of the award-winning "Hannah" series (Ronsdale Press), and my fourth novel, The Picasso Project, is now available on Amazon.

I am a big fan of writers sharing stories with other writers, both seasoned veterans of the craft as well as those just starting out. Writers are a pretty supportive bunch and no matter what our level of wordsmithery, it's nice to have each other's backs. And all you readers out there? You guys are the bee's knees.

I love to read and write character-driven stories about imperfect people. Young adult fiction is where I am most comfortable.

Marmite, that quintessential British foodstuff we either love or hate, is probably my spirit animal. I am also a lover of quality socks, am a stupidly early riser, a shameless eavesdropper, and a huge animal lover. I appreciate authenticity, hate pretension, and will be the person at the party who hides out talking to the dog.

I've had a lot of different jobs over the years, the longest being a 13-year stint teaching high school art. Now I write from a room at the back of my house and enjoy freelance editing on the side (mostly line editing). Young adult fiction is my jam.

I live with my husband, Richard, on a beautiful 2-acre property in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island.

If you made it this far, thank you. I do tend to prattle on.

My Books

I am currently finishing the final edit on a young adult contemporary novel titled TANGOFISH, releasing on February 11th, 2022. It's a story of life after loss, and I'm thrilled it will soon be out in the world. I am also well into another YA contemporary book called THE SAVING OF STEVIE SPARROW. I'm super excited about this story; it's one I've been wanting to write for such a long time.

Stay tuned for regular updates! Happy reading, all.
