I love to read and write character-driven stories about imperfect people. Young adult fiction is where I am most comfortable.
Marmite, that quintessential British foodstuff we either love or hate, is probably my spirit animal. I am also a lover of quality socks, am a stupidly early riser, a shameless eavesdropper and a huge animal lover. I appreciate authenticity, hate pretension, and will be the person at the party who hides out in the back yard talking to the dog.
I've had a lot of different jobs over the years, the longest being a 13-year stint teaching high school art. Now I teach creative writing part-time, pen occasional reviews for BC Bookworld, and enjoy freelance editing on the side (mostly line and copyediting). YA is my jam. Click on the "Editing Services" tab if you are interested.
I live with my husband, Richard, on a beautiful 2-acre property in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island.
If you made it this far, thank you. If you didn't, I understand; I do tend to prattle on.
I am currently working on my fifth book, a young adult novel titled, THE PECULIAR LANGUAGE OF LLAMAS. It's got an "Adrian Mole meets the woo-woo west coast" kind of vibe. Anyway, I'm on the home stretch with it; I'll keep you posted.
