ABOUT ME
It took me a while to get here, mostly because I figured no one would get my dated Stevie Nicks references or appreciate my obsession with muscle cars. But a website was needed, so here I am.
I am the author of the award-winning "Hannah" series (traditionally published by Ronsdale Press), three self-published novels for young adults, and one adult novella.

I am a big fan of writers sharing stories with other writers, both seasoned veterans of the craft and those just starting out. Writers are a pretty supportive bunch, and no matter what our level of wordsmithery, it's nice to have each other's backs. And all you readers out there? You guys are the bee's knees.

I love to read and write character-driven stories about imperfect people. Young adult fiction is my favourite genre to work in.

Marmite, that quintessential British foodstuff we either love or hate, is probably my spirit animal. I am also a lover of quality socks, am a stupidly early riser, a shameless eavesdropper, and a huge animal lover. I appreciate authenticity, hate pretension, and will be the person at the party who hides out talking to the dog.
I've had a lot of different jobs over the years, the longest being a 13-year stint teaching high school art. Now I write from a room at the back of my house. It's also where I produce "Serving up a Story," a podcast about bookish things.

In April of 2022, I began my journey down the rabbit hole of audiobook narration. This means I now have a beautiful 4' x 5' sound booth (thank you for building this, husband!) where I disappear and "talk to myself" for hours on end. More on that as I travel down THAT path.

I live with my husband, Richard, on a beautiful 2-acre property in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. It's pretty much heaven on earth. Our two adult sons live nearby, which is nice, too.
If you made it this far, thank you. I wish you all an inspired day.
