Meet Ben and Natalie, two middle-aged insomniacs trying to escape the world. Natalie is a frustrated writer whose life has recently fallen apart, and Ben is a reclusive widower and misanthrope. When they discover they are the only two guests at the mostly abandoned Eagle Lake Resort, neither is thrilled about the situation.

 

Their first meeting is far from charming-instead, they clash over firewood. And that's just the beginning of their many disagreements.

 

But as the summer unfolds, something unexpected happens: they begin to spend more time together. With that closeness comes vulnerability; for two people so scarred, it's a path neither is eager to take.

 

When a misunderstanding threatens to tear them apart, they face the painful truths they've avoided for years.
